Internet Addiction?

I was reading a book called Intelligence For Your Life, and it had a part about Internet addiction. While I don't think that I am addicted to the internet, I do believe that I spend more time on it than I should. I waste a lot of time just listening to music or looking up things that are inconsequential. So, starting today, I will be going on the internet a lot less. I realize that days when I don't go on the internet at all, I feel happier, like I've wasted less time. The truth is, I do waste a lot of time just surfing the web, and I am going to stop this bad habit. From now on, I'll only go on the internet for an hour a week. Just enough to check email and maybe blog here about what has been going on in my week. This should free up my time to do more meaningful things in life.

Back to School!

Yesterday, I was at Wal-Mart when I saw the back to school supplies already being set out. My heart rose and tears came to my eyes. I know it's only the beginning of July, but I love back-to-school season. I love the smell of new textbooks and the look of blank note paper. I love Superhero backpacks and tin lunch boxes and Number 2 pencils. Oh, and the glue sticks and construction paper and three-ring binders and glitter! Oh, and Lisa Frank folders! I love those!

When I told Kathy once about how I loved school supplies, she said that I was such a nerd. Well, I guess she's right. The sight in Wal-Mart cheered me right up and I was smiling for the rest of the day (even through the thunderstorm later on and my electricity going out). Then I was saddened because I realized that I'm never going back to school. *tear, tear*

July 4th, the REAL July 4th

Well, this was the most depressing July 4th I've ever had. My mom was at work today, both my father and brother were sleeping, and all of my other friends were either spending Independence Day with their own families or with each other.

Next year, I will plan to do something and/or go somewhere on July 4th, not just take aimless walks around Greenville.

July 3rd

We went to Vincey's house and grilled food and ate food and were taken prisoner by Mathan. We also played board games like Forbidden Island and Dungeon Quest and the game whupped us all. I also burnt my fingers on the hot metal grilling tongs and tried making conversation with Matt. That did not go well. I think I will just let us lapse into awkward silence next time.

Friends of Vincey's parents came over and an Asian fest started in her backyard. I swear, I haven't heard this much Chinese spoken since I watched all those Chinese soap operas as a young kid. As soon as it got dark, we lit fireworks. I played with the miniature pop-its and the O Magnificent One lit silver snow fountains. Vincey, Ben (the Chinese one), the O Magnificent One, and I also did this four square where we lit Roman candles all at once. I also got to use sparklers for the first time in my life. "You can write your name with it," O Magnificent One told me.

I also built legos with Mathan and the four of us played another round of Dungeon Quest. I should go buy that game. Ben (the white one) and Melissa would like it. Then we could fulfill what the O Magnificent One had said to his boss, Jamie, once: "We have an apartment now so we can...party all summer! And by party, I mean play board games."

Play board games, indeed. I can't wait for Hollywood Lives!
