Wtf, weather report? I checked you one week ago and you said that there would be no chance of precipitation on the one day I wanted to go to New York City. I start walking to the train station and what happens? It rains.
Regardless, I had a blast anyway! I met up with Matthew in New York and we went everywhere! Chinatown, Little Italy, Times Square, Rockefeller Center! I showed him The Strand bookstore—18 miles of books all in one place—and treated him to dinner at a restaurant in Chinatown. Times Square was my biggest surprise. I knew that it would be smaller than I imagined it, but I never knew that it would be so bright. Lit up like the daytime , I glanced around to see glaring lights, ten foot tall advertisements of The Lion King, other Broadway musicals, and television shows that were coming out. It was the most glorious sight I had seen in a long time. “I wanted to show you this at night,” Matthew told me. I could see why—the nighttime sky contrasted very nicely with all the lights of Times Square.

Then we went to Rockefeller. I was awed, standing in front
of 30 Rockefeller Center. “There’s this show I like called 30 Rock,” I
explained to Matt. “And it’s filmed right here!” Matt liked Rockefeller Center
because of the art deco style. He, however, did not like the fact the building
was right across from a Lego-land toy store. “Why does that matter?” I asked.
“It’s just so….It’s Rockefeller Center and right across is a
Lego store! I think something more….would be there.” We walked back to the
train station discussing the quote emblazoned on the front of the Center:
“Wisdom is the foundation for all action.” Matt agreed with the statement
saying that wisdom is like knowledge and that’s what starts action. I
disagreed.
“Wisdom can be the beginning for it, but I don’t think that
it’s the foundation.” “Maybe I’m too sleepy right now to think about this,” he
mused. “Maybe we’re both too sleepy.” I agreed.
Of course, it rains as we walk around New York.
Ironically, when I brought my umbrella the first
time we went to Manhattan—it didn’t rain. Now that I decided not to bring my umbrella…it rains. Very
funny, God.
